Tritoni linkup
Non-Maelstrom LARPers, the below probably will interest you little. Hell, even most of the Maelstrom people won't find this relevant.

[info]nanayena and friends are planning to bring a 4-6 strong 'proper' Tritoni group to Maelstrom next game – playing them as tribal hunters and so forth. I've asked about linking up with people on Rule7, but mostly the reaction was 'just get them to PM us' or other stuff that's harder to co-ordinate. Being a lazy bastard, I'm instead going to make this post, suggest people conduct inital discussions in the comment sections for it, and then take further discussions wherever.

It should be noted that this is a public post, and that I myself am *not* part of this Tritoni group, thus any deep dark secrets shouldn't really be discussed here. I'll be PMing/otherwise contacting all the appropriate people with links to this post, and hopefully this will work.

Were going to join Rule 7 at some point and try to recruit. I'm going to let Mark do most of the contacting and talking as I'm not a seasoned LARPer. I'm only really the one to talk about costumes.
Were taking this thing serously http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a348/enahawkins/caracel.jpg None of the unholy Snaz colours that are "orange" "bright yellow" and "golden rod" They are for kids face painting cats!!!

Thinking, African tribal, Masaai, fabric with big prints. Its all going to be good. No Macavity the mystery cats, No Skimbleshanks the railway cats, no pussy footing house cats or lol wemics, were going to try and be a full on pride of respectible and fun to play characters (hopefully) that fit into the whole scheme of Maelstrom.

I've been a lol wemic, I've come dressed in Cats costume, I was new and told it was okay but its not. Don't get me wrong I love the musical, I do make the costumes (I make many costumes of many different things) BUT I had the worst time ever at that event. I didn't want to interact with anyone because of the way I was dressed and now I want to go back and do it again but the proper way.
BTW, heres a picture of me not having fun.....

As soon as I get an email from my Pride's governess, I'll get a proper message posted here. We have a small forum set up for when it's all clear, we've got a moderately sized group of Tritoni who are (mostly) to brief, with a few borderline exceptions who have actual IC background reasons for being off-brief. And we're whipping them into shape, so it'll work out, provided you can suffer one of them actually being named "McAvity". Myself, I'm a straight-up, Bubastis devoted, male Tritoni hunter with a bow.

I hope to see you at the next event - even if we don't get anything sorted out OOC, I'm sure we'll meet IC and be able to integrate or otherwise positively interact.

clearly took me too long to post mine but. few things.
Firstly, i regret taking the name McAvity from a certain someone who will remain nameless, but now i will suffer with the fact every is calling me biscuit, still. my fault, my punishment. woe betide anyone who takes me lightly because of it, as a few saw at the event.

there are a few males that need more whipping than most. the fact you say that they are being whipped to shape, when it was myself who did most of it is a sorry affair. Im whipping myself ta very much, its a few who are using theirs as an excuse who are the problem.

The forum is for certain people only, i guess im going to have to close it if your going to blurt it out to just anyone. we are not in a position where we can just be hospitable to everyone and anyone, or did you forget the trouble you ended up in because of a long gone tribe?

Also, governess or not, we still are individual tribes, if she was to ask me to do something, i would ignore it as she isn't my female. We are tribes working together, not one big group.

apologies for putting this here but who knows, it might help somehow. god knows how but still, theres a few nuggets of usefull info..

It's all good. We'll see about this new Tritoni group once our own has its feet firmly planted on the ground and we can discuss things - I'm not blurting out anything just yet.

To the new Tritoni group - I personally would like to see you working with us, but I've got to speak to everyone else first. At the current rate, it'd be better to meet you entirely IC at the next event and see where things go from there.

Mcavity- please be careful what you say here. I've just read that post and some of that was so FOIP that I didn't know about it and I'm in the same group as you!

As regards Tritoni: Hi, I play a Tritoni wemic. I've only been to one Mael event but am planning on going to many more. I stick to the brief as much as physically possible, I wear leather (not a bikini), carry a bow, demand respect from males and anyone who scratches my ears gets screamed at. There are a number of Tritoni who are not 'fail-wemics' so if your group goes ahead look us up IC and see what you think.

Awesome makeup job on that first pic. :)

I'm going to point my wife at this post -- she's avoided Maelstrom so far, but might be convinced by something like this (and she's a BIG fan of caracals).

If she comes and joins us I will happily paint her face :)

After I showed her the photo, her second comment (after various awed but non-English noises) was "But I'd need to get someone else to paint my face," so I mentioned your offer -- thanks. She's humming and hawing, as usual. I'll try to convince her, as I think she'd love Maelstrom.

Right, first thing i want to say is, regardless of what anyone says, the large group of tritoni I'm with (some exceptions) are 'finally' getting their act together, by grouping together and not being small weak tribes.

visit us, it'll be something for you all to do, it'll kill an hour or two.

a few points that bug me/annoyed me with a few males/females last event.

Males stick with simple things
, cooking, hunting, basic things of life. they are strong and powerful, but the females are the advanced ones (regardless if its true or not). One thing they don't do, is but into female conversations/politics.
Females also shouldn't be afraid of 'reminding' their males to keep the hell out or what they should or shouldn't be doing.

also, get your weaponry + fighting tactics sorted. bowmen, spears, swords, whatever. just get everyone to know what to do + how to travel in a pack.

to be honest, the great thing with tritoni is you can make your own background and rules, as each group is its own individual tribe, not a large maze of buildings and homes like all the other societies. just small clearings and encampments, depending how big your group is. You can put it down to the tribe being distant from the 'main' gatherings and thus are not your 'conventinal' tritoni.

Yes, I had to remind the younger males of etiquette towards their females, since at event 1 many clealy had no clue.

Hey.

As some of you may already know from rule7 myself and a few others are planning to bring a Tritoni group to the game for event 4. Good to know that there are already some decent sized groups out there and look forward to meeting you in game...

Oh, you're Kae-Ree person. Hello, I'm James who you sent details.

I'm really looking forward to running with your version of the Tritoni! Roll on Event 4!

And yes, it'll be fascinating to meet and interact with the other prides in-game.

Meh
Shame they failed.

As in failed I mean join the "new" Tritoni who are a little bit shit.

Re: Meh
That is very much open for debate. Everything I've heard of those still playing Tritoni of the people I know says they've been playing it full-on and properly.

They've been interacting with some of the people that are considered to be 'doing it badly' or whatever, but AFAIK that's been actually getting those people to do it better.

I'd also say that saying someone has failed because they've joined/interacted with a particular group, regardless of what they've actually done with their character, seems a damn stupid way of definiting things.

Also, commenting anonymously, especially when someone from exactly the same IP adress as you commented on this while signed in, doesn't really help your argument.
